Welcome to Worlds in Global Battle Locked!
Argument: When the Breath is Expended, the Next Universe awaits. The Elder Powers then force the Nexal Conflict to determine who has the honor of (and power inherent in) Guiding the Next Breath. ~~ Lore of Haldon, Fragment the Twenty-Fifth
Worlds In Global Battle Locked (www.wigbl.com) is a browser-based game based upon (and borrowing heavily from) the now-defunct Nexus War game (http://www.nexuswar.com/ ). Each character in the game represents a soul entrapped in this eternal struggle that rages across worlds.
Be advised that while this new battleground is ''based on'' the original Nexus War, and gameplay during the early levels looks somewhat the same, there are some substantial differences in gameplay - as well as several extra twists and surprises... with new twists and surprises being added constantly.
VERY FEW surprises will be explicitly noted in the Changelog. Part of the joy of the game is discovering them. Suffice to say that those who like to tinker and explore will find lots of little easter eggs to keep them busy, with more wrinkles being added as I am able.
A Few Important Notes on Gameplay:
First of all, you will die. A lot. Just hit that "respawn" button and get back at it.
Second, you are allowed multiple characters, subject to some restrictions. The general rule is to keep your
characters away from each other; there are provisions in place that once one of your characters interacts
with a given target, it will be nigh-impossible for your other
characters to interact with him until a good amount of time passes.
Third, please note that WIGBL is intended to represent several iterations of the universe (each iteration being called a "Breath"). At each iteration, the characters in the universe are "wiped" (reduced to level one and all equipment lost). Let me repeat that... characters ARE periodically reduced to their mortal beginnings again, where they can choose a path similar to their old one... or an entirely new path.
Characters accumulate stats in each breath, as well as overall stats. Passing certain statistical thresholds in overall (cumulative) stats gains a character extra Character Points (the building blocks that are used to purchase abilities) - but ''only for that breath'' - thus, while experienced characters (or "grinders") may gain a temporary edge in one breath, they lose that edge in the next.
The exact duration of each iteration has not yet been determined but is likely to be between 9 and 15 months. Since most characters can reach level 30 (the highest level possible) in about 3 to 6 months of dedicated gameplay, this will give players plenty of time to enjoy their characters at high power before everything is rolled back into the aether and the next breath emerges with everyone - new players and old alike - once again on an even playing field.
Factions (or Guilds) also exist in this game; however, you must be at least Level 10 to start a faction and to perform some of the essential leadership functions thereof.
Expectations:
I am entirely a self-taught code monkey, and graphics aren't my forte, either. I hope you'll come for the game, stay for the depth (and more importantly, the community) and remember that I'm doing this in my snippets of spare time here and there. Accept it for what it is... a marvelous little toy that I'm inviting you to come and play with... but a toy that may have some nasty unintended (or intended, occasionally) aspects as well.
If you enjoy the game, sending a donation my way would be nice... but not mandatory (donations will increase the number of characters you can play). However, bear in mind that this is my site, my toy, and my rules. Creating an account here gets you three characters for free. Do NOT create extra accounts - I will eventually find out, and your access to the site WILL be restricted.
